Personal Statement Please follow the submission instructions in the Graduate Admission Application. Applicants should highlight their professional experience in the personal statement.

Degree and Minimum GPA
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university
  • A GPA of 3.0
TranscriptsWhile completing your online application, you will be required to submit one unofficial scanned copy of your transcript or academic record from each school you have attended where you have:
  • earned (or will earn) a degree,
  • studied for one semester or more,
  • earned 12 or more hours of credit, or
  • took classes that relate to your graduate study interests.

If an offer of admission is made, UD graduate students must provide their official, final transcripts before the first day of graduate-level classes.
Letters of Recommendation Three letters of recommendation. Recommendation forms are emailed directly from the online application to the three recommenders whose names and email addresses you provide. Instructions for returning the completed forms are included in the emails.

Application FeeFor the current application season, the application fee is $75.00. We encourage applicants seeking an application fee waiver to begin an online application and complete as much as possible without submitting payment. You may contact the graduate director of the program to which you’re applying here and send a request with your 9-digit application ID — departments may be able to pay the application fee for you.

International Students

The University of Delaware is an ideal place for a great education in a global atmosphere. Nearly 30% of all the University’s graduate students are international and are from over 100 countries. If you are an international applicant, you’ll also need to submit:

English Language ProficiencyThe TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required of all foreign applicants. A minimum score of 105 (TOEFL iBT) is required for admission consideration. We will accept iTEP Academic-Plus scores if TOEFL testing is not available to an applicant.​

Transfer Credit

The online MPA program accepts up to nine transfer credits with the approval of the program director. For more information about transferring your prior credits, contact a helpful admissions counselor at (844) 237-1338.

When to Apply

Applications are accepted at any time up until a week before classes begin, and you may begin in the fall, summer or spring semesters. Applicants are considered for admission on a rolling basis.

Note: Full-time program applicants interested in merit-based funding consideration should apply early as those awards are distributed on a rolling basis typically at or close to the time of admission.
